Matthew was born on April 28, 1978 in Rockville Center, N.Y. If there is one word to describe Matthew it was “energetic” and this was true, from the beginning and continued through his life. Matthew started his sports career on the soccer field, at the age of 4, as a way to channel his boundless enthusiasm.

 

His love of sports continued throughout his school years where he helped Carle Place H.S. win the Long Island Championships. He played football for Hobart College and in his junior year pursued his talents off the field by assisting the management of the Hobart Hockey Team.

 

He married the love of his life, Lauren Lynch Lorenzo, on May 14, 2005, and four years later they had Luke Anthony Lorenzo. Like his Mom & Dad Luke too is a bundle of endless energy.

 

Matthew’s tenacity in life was only surpassed by his dedication, integrity and his willingness’ to give back to others.

 

He channeled his love for sports into his career, working for CSE, Atlanta Sports Council, NCCA Men’s Final Four, Atlanta Falcons Football Club, and the National Hockey League, amongst others. Matthew was well respected by his colleagues and gave back to his community by always helping those in need.

 

Although Matthew lost his battle with cancer on March 19, 2015 he fought with courage & sprit never giving up hope. We all are blessed to have had the chance to know and love Matthew throughout his life.

 

He was a son, brother, husband, father, and friend to many and a true inspiration to all he encountered. His legacy will live on to give others the opportunity to excel in sports and beyond.
