The scholarship fund was started in 2016 in memory of Matt Lorenzo who in 1996 helped the Carle Place H.S. football team win the Long Island Championships.

 

The goal of the Scholarship Fund is to continue to help CPHS students to meet the financial needs of financing the ever increasing cost of a college education.

2019: Nicholas V.  - (in the words of his coaches) Nick is a two sport athlete who plays football and wrestles.  Nick can be described by all of his coaches as a hardworking, dedicated, student/athlete.  He played offensive guard and defensive tackle as well as was a captain of our team.  He was an all-county wrestler who fought very hard to win his placing match at Cold Spring harbor.  

More importantly than his athletic accolades, Nick is a young man who truly exemplifies the mission statement of  C.P. Athletic program. He is a respectful, hardworking, dedicated, loyal, student athlete to his teammates and coaches.

Nick will be attending Western Connecticut University where he will be playing football in the Fall.

 

2018: Luke C. - "I would like to thank your family for the privilege of receiving the Matt Lorenzo Scholarship. My mother had Matthew as a student and was honored that I fit the criteria for an award that best represented him. I am a 3 sport athlete and will be  playing lacrosse at Stony Brook University in the Fall."

2017: Chris K. - Chris led his team from the Quarterback positions to its best finish since 1999, an 8-3 record and a County Championship playoff appearance at Hofstra!

2016: Lucas G. - Trinity College in Hartford, Ct. where he is playing at the RB position.
